Network One is a Canberra-based networking group that brings local business owners together over weekly breakfast meetings. They are known to provide a platform where members can connect, collaborate, and support one another through weekly breakfast meetings. As a community-driven group, their goal is to grow their membership while increasing engagement with existing members.
When Network One approached Planet Media, they didn’t yet have a website. And as Canberra’s leading networking group, having a professional online presence was critical to attract new members, showcase events, and improve engagement with existing members. Which is why our challenge was to design a platform that not only represented their vibrant community but also made it easy for members and prospective leads to access valuable information.
We partnered closely with the Network One team to understand their goals, member expectations, and vision for growth. From there, our strategy was centred on creating a professional, user-friendly website with strong functionality to support both current and prospective members. We designed a website that gave members the tools they needed and made it simple for new people to see what the group was all about. Alongside this, we implemented digital marketing and content strategies to boost awareness, improve engagement, and strengthen their online presence, raising awareness and positioning Network One as Canberra’s go-to networking group.
Website UI & UX Design
We designed a customised website that prioritised user experience for both members and visitors. A local directory was created to showcase businesses by category, making it easy for users to find and connect with members. The site also included an events section with a schedule and calendar, helping to promote upcoming programmes and networking opportunities. Every element was shaped by strong UI and UX principles to ensure a seamless and engaging experience.
Branding and Website Design
Our design team strengthened Network One’s identity by applying brand colours, professional fonts, and consistent styling across the site. The bold orange brand palette was carried through the website and communications, giving the organisation a recognisable and polished digital presence. Information about meetings, events, and members was structured to be clear and accessible, ensuring the platform could serve both current and potential members.
Website Development
Built to be scalable and responsive, the website offered engaging content and intuitive navigation across all devices. We integrated features such as a members’ profile section, backend management, an event booking system, newsletter sign-ups, and blog functionality. This provided Network One with a centralised hub to manage communications and showcase their community.
Content Marketing
To drive engagement, we developed a weekly email newsletter that featured upcoming events, introduced speakers in creative ways, and shared tips for business owners. We also created blog content designed to increase awareness, boost SEO performance, and attract potential new members. These content initiatives strengthened communication within the group and built authority beyond it.
Search and Direct Marketing
We supported Network One with targeted marketing campaigns, both organic and paid. Our search marketing efforts successfully placed them as the number one Google result for “Canberra business networking group,” while paid Google Ads campaigns drove additional traffic and visibility. Ongoing email marketing campaigns also played a vital role in engaging members and increasing event attendance.
Members Portal
To strengthen engagement, we built a dedicated members portal that gave Network One members more control and visibility. Through the portal, members could update their own profiles and have their businesses displayed by category. This not only streamlined management but also made it easier for visitors to connect with the right businesses within the community.
Search Marketing
We implemented a targeted search marketing strategy to increase visibility and attract new members. By optimising the site and running paid campaigns, Network One quickly rose to the top position on Google for “Canberra business networking group”. This strong search presence significantly boosted traffic and positioned Network One as the go-to hub for local business connections.
Direct Marketing
To keep members engaged and ensure consistent event attendance, we rolled out an ongoing email marketing campaign. Weekly newsletters highlighted upcoming events, presenters, and networking opportunities, while also sharing valuable resources. This direct communication channel helped maintain strong connections within the community and supported steady membership growth.
